Why Rust Doctor?

There are many rust products on the market. Many of these products use strong acids and solvents creating strong fumes that can be toxic as well as being flammable.  The strong chemicals can damage adjacent paint wiring and etc. when sprayed on undercarriages or inside vehicles.   Use of these products in an enclosed environment requires the use of special breathing masks.  Others products are epoxy paints that encapsulate (cover) the rust.  These products are activated by moisture in the air so the container has to be securely resealed and kept cool are the paint will solidify and become solid in the container.  If the container is opened closed too many times, the paint will become solid in the can and is unusable.   These products all have some limitations as to what kind of top coat can be used with them.  Cleaning paint brushes or spray guns usually requires strong solvent and cleaners. 

Rust Doctor is unique water based rust product that changes the rust to a non-rusting black iron oxide called magnetite.  The black magnetite is a very hard surface that will not rust.  Because of that, the base metal under the magnetite will not rust.  The second part of the Rust Doctor conversion process is the clear latex primer left on the surface after the Rust Doctor has cured.  This primer will accept virtually all paints as top coats.  You can weld on the surface as well as use body filler and fiberglass over this primed surface.   Rust Doctor can be sprayed or brushed and clean up of equipment is as simple as rinsing with water.  Spraying the under carriage of a vehicle or some equipment is not a problem as Rust Doctor will not damage wiring, glass, rubber or plastic.   If you get Rust Doctor some place you don’t want it, just wipe it off with a wet rag.

Because Rust Doctor in water based, there are no strong fumes when brushing or spraying the product.  It can be used in an enclosed environment without the need for special breathing equipment.  For commercial applications, it is possible to use Rust Doctor in one part of a building while people work in another section without any problem with fumes.  One company used Rust Doctor on an assembly line rebuilding automotive alternators.   Rust Doctor has over a two year shelf life and the container can be opened and close as often as needed.
