How Rust Doctor Works
Posted by Rodger Busse on
Hello, your demonstration video shows a panel that is completely surface rusted. What about a panel that is a combination of surface rust and faded paint? Can I apply Rust Doctor over the faded paint to achieve the same results of a completely surface rusted panel?? Jeff
Good question Jeff. If you paint a panel that has rust and paint, you will need to remove any loose rust and paint on the surface. You can apply Rust Doctor to the panel. Rust Doctor will convert the rust to a black non-rusting iron oxide and leave a clear primer on the converted rust and remaining paint. The panel will be black where there was rust and whatever paint is left on the surface will show through the clear primer. Because the surface is already primed, you can then top coat with any color or any kind of paint.
Good luck on your project.
